Common questions

What does this speed test measure?

PulseNet measures the connection between your browser and this site’s test endpoint. It samples request round trips, then runs download and upload transfers for about eight seconds each. It does not measure every route on the internet.

Why is my result lower than my internet plan?

Your plan describes a service rate. Wi-Fi conditions, your device, a VPN, other active devices and the route to the test endpoint all affect the measured result. Compare tests with the same device and location, and use a wired test as a baseline.

Why do results change between tests?

Networks are shared. Radio interference, background transfers, network congestion and the test server’s workload change over time. Repeat a few tests at different times instead of relying on one reading.

Does a high download speed guarantee good video calls?

Calls also depend on upload speed, latency, jitter and packet loss. This test does not measure packet loss. If calls are unstable, pause background transfers and compare Wi-Fi with a cable.

Where are my test results saved?

Recent results are kept in local browser storage on this device. PulseNet has no account or cross-device history. Use Clear history to remove these records. Hosting infrastructure may still process ordinary request logs.
